Leading Technology Company Elects AmWINS’ Retiree Benefit Choice as its Retiree Health Benefits Administrator

BUSINESS CHALLENGE

A 100 year old, privately owned U.S. based company specializing in the use of technology as a means of improving safety was feeling the increasing pressure of its retiree health benefits. The organization needed to make a change but wanted to continue to support their loyal retirees, some of whom were family or close friends. The organization tasked their broker with controlling the company’s medical and prescription drug insurance costs, maintaining a quality benefits offering and delivering unmatched customer service.

SOLUTION

A colleague directed the broker to AmWINS Group Benefits. Together, they interviewed the client to determine the details of their retiree population. With an older retiree population, a paternalistic approach to its retirees and a desire to avoid drastic changes, AmWINS recommended Retiree Benefit Choice™ (RBC). Retirees could choose from a custom plan offering comparable to their current medical and prescription drug coverage, including full coverage through the donut hole, or elect to shop the Medicare Exchange marketplace. Administration, including eligibility, billing and service was handled by AmWINS as well, providing a single point of contact for research, plan design, enrollment and service.

RESULTS

Ultimately, the company opted for Retiree Benefit Choice because it felt RBC would significantly minimize anxiety among its retirees, while opening the door for an Exchange option later down the road, if desired. The company found that this flexibility put it in a unique position to satisfy every retiree and still meet the organization’s financial and paternal obligations.
